Friends of the Mashpee Public Library are having a Busy Year!
Fundraising Campaign
2009 includes a campaign to seek significant donations for Naming Rights for different rooms and furnishings in the library. Individuals, businesses, Foundations and service groups can make donations and have commemorative plaques recognizing their contributions in support of the new Library. All donors who give $250 or more will be placed on a Donor Wall in the Library Entrance.
Walk to Read and Touch a Truck will be held Sunday Sept. 13th
Rrain date September13th at Mashpee High School will see two family events: Our Walk to Read and Touch a Truck. Applications for the walk, $10 a person of $20 for a family of 4 will be available at the Library. The first 100 to register receive a free T shirt. The Walk will start at the High School and walk to the site of the New Mashpee Library on Steeple Street. It is a total of 1.5 miles. Register at 9AM. he Walk begins at 10AM. Touch at Truck will be at the High School from 10AM to 2PM. Kids can get up close to trucks and specialty cars of every description. There will be food, baked goods and ice cream and lots of laughter. $5 a kid or $20 for a family of 4. Tickets sold on site. If you attend both events, receive a $10 discount on the combination family admission.
FMPL's newsletter, PREFACE, comes out quarterly. Jim Carroll has taken on the job of Graphic designer. thanks Jim.. Barbara Notarius and Ann Everett are the liaisons with the advertisers. The Enterprise prints our newsletter and is the primary agent for distribution. Articles by members of the Library staff, the Friends' Board and anyone in the local community who has a book or library related article to share are featured in the newsletter. PREFACE will serve as a strong link with the community during the time the Library is in temporary quarters,while the New Mashpee Library is under construction.
